Badger History Group will kick off their series of lectures related to local history on September 9th. Their 2026-27 series will be held at the River Arts Center on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (save December and January). Events are free and open to the public. September's lecture will take place in the Art Gallery.
Carolyn Dallmann will speak about her newest book, Powder Plant, Farmland to National Defense, released in March 2026. Her presentation will explore the events she experienced, the employees she worked with, what she learned while researching and writing the book, and the lasting impact the Badger Army Ammunition Plant had on her life.
Dallmann draws on more than three decades of technical and field experience at Badger. Her writing has appeared in The Wisconsin Magazine of History. Her debut book is North Freedom: A Memoir. Her short story, Thanksgiving with the Professors, will appear in a Wisconsin Writers Association publication in October, honoring the legacy of Jerry Apps.
